Trails End School of Taxidermy offers instructors who are experts in all areas of taxidermy.

Get your hands on training on all aspects of the art of taxidermy.

What makes our school unique?

1. Our class length is 12 weeks.
Some may say this is a long time to go to taxidermy classes when all the other schools are considerably shorter. We feel that there is so much information that is needed to be learned it is hard to learn and understand all of the concepts and methods in a shorter time frame. Yes, you can learn taxidermy in a shorter period of time, BUT you will not get the exposure we feel is necessary to understand and comprehend what is being taught. As in all aspects of life the more you do (repetition) the better you become. This is why we make sure our students get two birds, two deer, five fish , three habitat bases, and multiple other specimens to mount to attain their goals. All of our classes in the past have been extremely pleased with being able to do multiple mounts
of the same species (repetition).

2. We offer multiple instructors.
This is one thing that is by far the biggest benefit you will receive when you go through our class. With multiple teachers, you are exposed to more information vs. having only one or two instructors. The best thing you can do is surround yourself with as many people in the field who are willing to help you learn this form of art. What better instructors to have than those teaching here. Bill Yox, John Lind, Jim Slocum, Pat Grimes, Steve Silseth, Lou Wynia, Jim Willard, and Jerry Froehlich. These individuals are all World, or National, ribbon winners and all have taught here. They are also world class people willing to help us all attain our goals in taxidermy. We are always adding to our list of instructors, and we assure you that any new instructors will be as top-notch as those we currently have or have had in the past.

3. Financing.
We now have student loans available through the state of Minnesota. By using this option you do not have to put a deposit down in order to guarantee that a position is held for you. You may also extend the length of the loan to 15 years so your monthly payment is minimal. This allows those who are short of cash to be able to learn something that will undoubtedly pay for itself. For more information on this go to www.selfloan.org .

4. We not only teach taxidermy here, but we also give you the basics on how to run and maintain a business. Some of the areas that are touched upon are: business set-up, cash flow, overhead, tracking profit/loss, and other areas. The majority of our students are looking to make a little money on the side or to go into business full-time and pursue a career. Have you ever wondered why a taxidermist is booked out a year or more? It’s because there is that much work out there that needs to be done. To get, and maintain, a good client base you must not only be able to put out a good product, but you should have a good knowledge of finances in order to stay in business. The majority of businesses that close are due to bad financial knowledge.

5. We supply ALL of the items needed in class, all you need to bring is yourself, and if possible a video camera. Some schools require you to pay for your specimens on top of the tuition, not us. We also have a full-time taxidermy studio here and have been in business for over 25 years. Being in this business for this amount of time gives us the ability to find and purchase good quality specimens for our students.

6. We have a class that will fit anyone’s schedule. Weekends, days or evenings. Although our main schedule is curtailed towards the evening class, we provide education throughout the week at any given time to accommodate the needs of all those who would like to learn the art. We are one of the only schools that provide evening instructions, and the reason we do this is to provide the working individual an opportunity to attend class after working at their day job.

7. Collectively, our instructors have over 200 years of experience. That’s saying a lot about our instructors, but they have attained top levels in the field and have proven techniques. Their ability to teach these techniques is what makes them outstanding instructors. These are just some of the reasons that make our school stand out from the rest. Believe us, there are more, but the students that have attended all agree that the best decision they made was to attend this course.
